James E. Smith is an old established independently owned timber supplier based in the heart of Birmingham supplying customers nationwide. Originally formed as a small merchant, the business expanded into softwood importing in 1975 and now has a broad spread of customers engaged in a variety of sectors including export packing, pallet, fencing, garden furniture, garden buildings, landscaping, joinery and agricultural buildings.
Extensive stockyards in Birmingham, Hull, and New Holland also provide a full range of in-house machining and preservative treatment services.

Softwoods, both imported and home grown are sourced from well managed, environmentally certified forests that meet the stringent standards required by FSC® (FSC-C123865) & PEFC (PEFC 16-37-448). The company sell FSC® & PEFC on request.
