Lower container volumes at Port of Liverpool

The Port of Liverpool is set to cut 125 dock workers’ positions due to a notable decline in container volumes.

Peel Ports, the port’s operator, expressed regret over the decision and will initiate formal consultations within 45 days.

Peel Ports is committed to finding alternative roles within the company for affected workers when possible.

The UK has witnessed a concerning trend with a 12% reduction in container volumes in the first half of 2023, following a 7% decline in the prior year.
